What a busy March around the Scottish Rite!
We broke a record and served 190 guests at the Fish Fry from 11 - 1:00 on March 12th. That evening, Kyle and Amanda Beckner hosted the Cèilidh Gaelic Beer Tasting, with excellent Irish and Scottish beers and home made dishes to accompany each beer. On Saturday, March 12, the Tangier Shrine Mobile Nobles had about 400 guests on-hand for the 357 Dinner. KSA volunteers greeted, bussed tables, and bartended during the evening. On Sunday, our own Marcia from the office volunteered her day at the Omaha Bridal show, handing out 90 rental packages to guests at the Century Link Center.
On March 14th, the Line Officers met, followed by St. John's Lodge of Education #331, which held a dinner and welcomed MW Tom Hauder as speaker. On March 17th, members of the KSA worked from 11:00 to 1:00, serving 65 freshly prepared Corned Beef and Cabbage brought over from Tangier Shrine. On Friday, March 18, 45 guests enjoyed a five-course gourmet meal and sampled exquisite wine at the Spring Wine Tasting.
On Monday, March 21, we celebrated Remembrance and Renewal, extinguishing the lights in memory of the Brethren we've lost over the past year, and relighting the lights in anticipation of the year to come. Dick Corwine, 33° portrayed Pontius Pilate afterward, giving a moving monologue in which he explained his decision to put Jesus Christ to death. After his beautiful monologue, we welcomed Kate Boulter, wife of Brother Alan Boulter, 32°, lead nurse from the UNMC Biocontainment Unit, who spoke about Nebraska's efforts to contain and treat infectious disease, and how the UNMC IBU leads the nation in preparation and developing protocols which other hospitals study and use.
If that isn't enough for one month, 15 Scottish Rite Masons head to Phoenix in early April for the 2016 Scottish Rite Leadership Workshops. The following week, the 9-10th degree team heads to Des Moines to participate in the multi-state Reunion!
