Omaha Valley celebrates Kentucky Derby

The Valley of Omaha Scottish Rite Kentucky Derby party began as a fun way to engage the ladies during the Spring Reunion in 2016. This year’s Kentucky Derby party, hosted on Saturday, May 6, was a wonderful evening and part of a new tradition on the Valley of Omaha Scottish Rite calendar.

The weather was a perfect evening to get together as more than thirty guests – dressed in their best Kentucky Derby attire – gathered under a tent in the Scottish Rite courtyard. Guests enjoyed crab cakes, cookies, pecan pie, cocktails and of course, mint julips, while watching the races on the big screen television. Members could “bet” on the races, with prizes for the winners, including bottles of Kentucky bourbon.

Two of our guests were Bryan Deming, 32° and his wife Erin, who had just been married earlier that afternoon at the Scottish Rite, and decided to join us afterward for the celebration. Congratulations to Bryan and Erin!
