Wonderful evening at the June College World Series Tailgate dinner

Great evening at the June Scottish Rite Lodge Dinner! We began with a College World Series tailgate party, with freshly grilled burgers, brats, and hotdogs, with potato salad, baked beans, and ice cream, served by the Culinary Masters. The games were aired on the TV in the lounge for those who wanted to watch.

After dinner, Joyce Kavalec surprised Don Kavalec with a brick for the Mural Garden, presented for Father's Day/Don's birthday/52nd anniversary. We also presented a brick for the Mural Garden for the Brumfield family. Don then presented a Master Craftsman certificate to TJ Brumfield for completing one of the courses on Masonic philosophy.

Afterward, the Knights of St. Andrew knighted four new members: Mark Bush, Dennis Newman, Matt Poast, and Steven Zimmerman. The Knighting began with a brief history of the Battle of Bannockburn, given by Armel MacDonald, about the relationship between the Knights Templar and Scotland, which form the basis of the Scottish Rite Knights of St. Andrew Degree. His presentation was accompanied by slides by Kyle and Amanda Beckner, who recently returned from Scotland with photos of many of the key locations included in Armel's presentation. Each Knight was presented with their KSA patent, proclaiming them a member in good standing.  After the Knighting ceremony, conducted by Bob Pelletier, Carl Simmons and Andrew Muska, the KSA presented Brother Matt Poast with his glengarry in appreciation for volunteering and being active with the KSA.

Chris Nigro, Venerable Master for the Lodge of Perfection opened a short meeting at the dinner, with the officers of the four lines opening their respective bodies, so we could vote on a petition for the Fall Reunion. Next month, the Scottish Rite Lodge meeting will be a stag event, with the four Masters reporting on their lines activities.
