On Monday, February 20th, 38 officers of the Valley of Omaha Scottish Rite, along with the Cathedral Board and Scottish Rite Foundation of Omaha board members, were installed in an impressive ceremony at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center. The original installation date in January had been rescheduled due to icy weather at the time.
Paul Rutherford, 33°, Personal Representative to the SGIG, served as Installing Officer, with Frank Kroupa, 33°as Installing Marshal, and John Parsons, 33° as Installing Chaplain. This year, the incoming Masters thanked the 2016 Masters, presenting them with a breast jewel representing their office. The impressive ceremony in the theater also included a few laughs, and everyone enjoyed the installation ceremony.
Additionally, February's installation coincided with the annual "Ladies Night at the 'Rite," an annual tradition celebrating Valentine's Day. Sam and Louie's catered the evening, serving grilled chicken, pasta, vegetables, salad, and cheesecake. Michael Walker, Omaha's own Vintage Vocalist, sang to guests during the evening. Ladies were presented with beautiful potted plants and chocolates from the Lodge officers.
After dinner and remarks from Charles Sederstrom III, Venerable Master for the Lodge of Perfection, numerous guests danced the evening away as Michael Walker sang.
Mark your calendars now for January 15, 2018 for the Installation of Officers and February 19 for next year's Ladies Night.
