I was born in Akron, Ohio where I lived until the age of 18 when I enlisted in the United States Air Force in June 1967. I served 21 ½ years in the Air Force, serving in different position within the Law Enforcement field as well as management, retiring in November 1988 at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Upon retirement, I went to work for the State of Nebraska Probation Administration where I worked for 22 years as a Probation Officer as well as a Probation Coordinator where I managed a high-risk community confinement program for the Douglas/Sarpy County Court systems. I received my Bachelor of General Studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in June 1988, and my Master of Public Administration degree in December 2000 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I also received numerous hours of Continuing Education, while serving in the United States Air Force in the areas of Leadership and Management. I was also an Adjunct Professor at Metropolitan Community College, Omaha Nebraska from 2007 – 2021 where I taught Human Relations Skills.
I have also served on numerous local, military and National Boards such as: United States Air Force Enlisted Council 1983 -1984; Air Force Association Board of Director’s – Ex-Officio, 1983 -1985; Board of Director, Air Force Association 1985 -1995; Board Member, National Council of Volunteer Centers, Points of Light Foundation, 1997 -1998; Board of Director, United Way of the Midlands, Omaha, NE, 1997 -2005, and Board of Director, Combined Health Agencies Drive (CHAD), 2001 -2002. In 1982, I was selected as one of the United States Jaycees Outstanding Young Man of America.
My wife Yong is originally from South Korea, where we were married in December 1970. She was employed with the United States Air Force Federal Civil Service for 36 years as a Nutritional Specialist and Operation Manager for the Child Development Center at various military installation within the United States, before retiring at Offutt Air Force Base in December 2015.
In my spare time, I like working out, playing golf, and working with various agencies within the community. I am currently a member of Westwood Heights Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska where my wife and I attend regularly.
Masonic Background
Daniel Alati was raised at Bellevue Lodge #325 in May 2018, and served as Marshal in 2018. In 2019, I received my Grand Lodge of Nebraska Individual Proficiency Certification, and have served as an Apprentice Deputy Custodian since 2022. He joined the Scottish Rite in 2019, and became an Endowed Life Member in 2024. During that time he has been extremely active and supportive of the many philanthropies within the Scottish Rite such as the Rose Croix Society; House of the Temple; Century Club; 1914 Society, and Rite Care Classic. In 2022, he was appointed a member of the Scottish Rite Line Officer Guild – Omaha Consistory where he is currently serving as Preceptor for the year 2025. In 2019, Daniel became a member of the Knights of St. Andrew, and has severed in various position, and was elected Venerable Master, in January
2025. He is also a member of the Tangier Shrine Legion of Honor and currently serves as the 1st Lt. Commander.
He currently is Master of Bellevue Lodge #325. He is also joined the York Rite in 2021, and is a member of the York Rite Chapter where he currently sits in the East as High Priest. He is also a member of York Rite Commandery and serves as the Captain of the Guard, and York Rite Council where he serves as Deputy Master. In September 2024 he was inducted into the York Rite Sovereign College of North America.
Daniel is also a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, National Sojourners Omaha Chapter #19, were he currently serves as Chapter President; Heroes of ’76, Joseph Warren Camp, as well as Charter Member of National Sojourners William F. Cody Chapter #574.
